Akuna Springs TM gears up to hydrate Australia’s Greatest Desert Race
Australia’s newest bottled water brand announced as the 2017 Hydration partner of the ‘Finke Desert Race’
In a bid to hydrate the adrenaline enthusiasts gearing up to participate and witness the greatest desert race in Australia this Queen’s birthday weekend, Akuna Springs has been announced as the ‘Official Hydration Partner’ of the Finke Desert Race, 2017’.
The Finke Desert Race is an off road, multi terrain race for bikes, cars, buggies and quads through desert country from Alice Springs to the small Aputula (Finke) community with the race being held each year on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend in June.
Commenting on the partnership National Marketing Manager for NT Beverages, Visha Bhargava said, “Akuna Springs is synonymous with health, fitness and adventure, and the Finke Desert Race is a platform that representsthat, through an outdoor sporting event that is hugely watched and followed by Australia and the rest of the world. Our end goal is to keep all the participants and spectators hydrated as they experience an adrenaline driven long weekend in the great Australian Outback.”
She added, “Our message to the audiences is loud and clear – Participate, Hydrate and Feel Great!”
The June long weekend and the Finke have become an institution with outstanding community support. For three days, it is estimated that more than 18,000 people camp beside the racetrack, sleeping under the stars in their tents and swags. Over race weekend, an estimated 300 volunteer officials will assist with the running of the event.
Commenting on the partnership with Akuna Springs, Finke Desert Race Club Secretary, Claire Ryan commented, “The Finke Desert Race Club are ecstatic to welcome Akuna Springs on board for the 2017 event. The responsibility of providing hydration to our competitors is key over Race Weekend after competitors battle it out on the track.”
Whilst originally the Finke was only a bike race, its increasing popularity saw the inevitable introduction of cars and off road buggies in 1988. The event is expected to inject $5M into the local economy during race week in June.
Akuna Springs is pure artesian water sourced and bottled in the pristine outback of Australia and ties in well with the Finke Desert Race, which the people and local businesses of Alice Springs are proud to have ownership of. The brand of bottled water is an offering from the Territory’s only bottled water company NT Beverages.
